GANDER, N.L. – The RCMP in Gander have been investigating a rash of residential break-ins that began early this summer.

According to a RCMP release issued Oct. 10, there have been 19 in all, the most recent occurring over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The majority of the incidents involve homes where the owners are out of town for either short or extended stays, the release notes.

Common items that are being stolen include jewellery, home electronics and money.

A 28-year-old woman is the only person to be arrested in connection with the break-ins so far.

She was arrested for possession of stolen property on Sept. 24 and is scheduled to appear in Gander Provincial Court on Nov. 20.

Police are continuing to investigate.
