ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says it has apprehended an individual responsible for the targetted vandalism of and theft from St. John's area community mailboxes.
Patrol officers stopped a vehicle in the west end of the city Tuesday afternoon and discovered the driver, a 28-year-old male, was definitely not supposed to be behind the wheel. The man has a suspended driver's licence and owes nearly $60,000 in outstanding fines.
Police laid additional charges of theft of mail, mischief, and breach of courts orders as part of an ongoing investigation into theft from Canada Post mailboxes.
The accused was held for a court appearance this morning.
