ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers pinched three shoplifters in three different parts of St. John's on a windy Wednesday.

Around 10 a.m., officers responding to a disturbance at a downtown convenience store were advised that a male suspect had stolen something and then left on foot. Police quickly located the accused, a 23-year-old who was charged with theft and breaching court orders. He was released to await an appearance in provincial court.

In the early evening, the RNC was called to theft from a gas station in the city's east end. Police says they were able to identify the suspect, a 29-year-old man, and located him in the area, placing him under arrest for multiple counts of theft and numerous court order breaches. He was held in the lockup overnight awaiting arraignment this morning.

Finally, at approximately 9 p.m. an officer responding to a theft from a grocery store in the west end was led on a short foot chase by a male suspect fleeing the scene with a large number of stolen items. The accused was apprehended, charged with theft and breaching court orders. He was released to await an appearance in provincial court.
