ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A 29-year-old man is without his vehicle and facing a hefty fine after being clocked at 157 km/h on the Outer Ring Road in St. John’s on Monday.
The driver was one of 28 issued tickets along the by Royal Newfoundland Constabulary during a three-hour laser radar run on the stretch of Trans Canada Highway near Allandale Road.
The man had his license suspended and his vehicle impounded.
Our Traffic Services were kept busy today, issuing 28 tickets in a 3 hour span on the TCH near Allandale Road. One driver was clocked at 57 km/h over the speed limit. This driver had their vehicle seized and license suspended for 7 days. #penaltybox #slowdown #nltraffic

The RNC impounded four other vehicles following traffic safety stops on Tuesday. In one case, the 21-year-old male driver was believed to be impaired but refused to provide a breath sample to police. In the others, the driver either didn't have insurance, registration a valid license, or a combination thereof.
