MOUNT PEARL, N.L. — A Royal Newfoundland Constabulary police services dog earned his treats today after assisting in the apprehension of a suspected vehicle thief Tuesday night in St. John's.
Several hours are responding to a reported motor vehicle theft in Mount Pearl, officers spotted the car in centre city St. John's, at which time they witnessed a man leave the vehicle.
K9 units were called in to track the suspect, resulting in the eventual arrest of the 26-year-old man for stealing a vehicle and breaching court orders.
A second male, 31, was also tracked and arrested as he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Both men will appear before a provincial court judge today.
