ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Several Royal Newfoundland Constabulary police officers and cruisers blocked off the end of Golf Avenue in St. John's early Sunday evening.
Witnesses said they saw police come out of an apartment building with a rifle or shotgun.
The Telegram was told police were investigating a weapons offence.
According to the overnight report, at 6:33 p.m. operational patrol services responded to the report of a weapons offence in the downtown area.
There was a report of someone being threatened with a firearm.
As a result, police say a 37-year-old woman was arrested and charged with various offences. She was charged with pointing a firearm, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, contravention of firearm storage regulations and various breaches of court order.
She was held for court Monday morning. There were no injuries reported.
