The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary continues to crack down on impaired drivers.
A 27-year-old male and a 50-year-old female were charged with impaired driving in separate incidents overnight Wednesday.
The first arrest came around 11:50 p.m. in St. John’s when a 50-year-old female driver was charged with impaired driving and failing the breathalyzer.
As a result, she had her license suspended and her vehicle impounded. She will appear in court at a later date.
The second charge happened in Paradise at 12:40 a.m. when RNC stopped a vehicle on a safety stop. The 27-year-old driver was charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample and obstructing a peace officer.
His license was also suspended and his car impounded.
He was taken to the city lockup overnight and will appear in court in St. John’s this morning.
In a third incident which occured around 7:30 p.m., the RNC responded to a disturbance in the centre district of St. John’s.
The RNC arrested a 61-year-old male at the scene and charged him with assault, uttering threats and resisting arrest.
He was taken to lockup overnight and will appear in court in St. John’s this morning.
