ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A 20 year-old-man was arrested after an incident in St. John’s Wednesday night that saw a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer injured.

At around 7:40 a.m., RNC Operational Patrol Services responded to a business on Kenmount Road after a report of a suspicious person

The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect and charges of sexual assault.

The female victim of the alleged assault did not require medical treatment, but one of the responding officers did and was transported to hospital for follow-up on what were described as serious non-life-threatening injuries.

That meant other the suspect was tagged with other serious charges — resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and aggravated assault (against a police officer) — as he was held to appear in Court.
