ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Royal St John’s Regatta Committee has teamed up with the newly established Mobile Vendors Association of NL (mVAN) for the Fall Fun Regatta and Food Truck Fair at Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John’s on Sept. 21.
“As a non-profit driven by a committee of volunteers, partnerships within the community is essential to us. While we currently maintain a relationship with many community organizations within the province, we are excited to embark on a new liaison with the association representing some of our ground space vendors, which are vital to Regatta Day,” Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee president Chris Neary said in a news release.
This fun regatta is an opportunity for individuals to try rowing before the annual St. John’s Regatta, held the first Wednesday in August. The Fall Fun Regatta will consist of mixed races, family races, company races and anything else brought forward to the committee. Creativity is encouraged, including a costume contest, the committee said.
The committee is still accepting registrations and teams of all ages and abilities are welcome.
This year, the fall regatta will also comprise of a food truck fair.
"We couldn’t be more excited to partner with the regatta, participate in this event and officially launch the association. There are so many ways that our organizations can support and work together in the future. Mobile vendors are such an integral part of the regatta experience, so it makes perfect sense to share ideas and collaborate,” said Mobile Vendors Association of NL chairwoman Allyson Howse.
The association board of directors represents Big Boy Bao’s, Hitchen the Kitchen, Johnny and Mae’s, Quidi Vidi Fish and Chips, Saucy Mouth, Scout and Ziggy Peelgoods and is currently accepting members. MVAN was formed in April.
