Another crewmember of the MV Blue Puttees has tested positive for COVID-19, Marine Atlantic confirmed Thursday.

The man, in his 60s, tested positive in the Central Health region of Newfoundland, the provincial Department of Health reported.

The MV Blue Puttees is tied up while public health officials in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador trace and test possible contacts.

A spokesperson for Marine Atlantic said Thursday afternoon that all test results from employees on the Blue Puttees have not yet been received.

He said the MV Atlantic Vision, which has been on standby in North Sydney, N.S., will replace the Puttees early this evening.

Passengers who travelled on the Puttees to or from North Sydney to Port Aux Basques between Tuesday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Jan. 16, have been asked to arrange COVID-19 testing.

Testing can be arranged by calling 811 or by using the online assessment tool at https://covidassessment.nlchi.nl.ca/.

On Wednesday, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald said the risk to passengers is low because Marine Atlantic has implemented health measures to avoid contact and reduced the number of common spaces.

Marine Atlantic said Wednesday the number of passengers who travelled on the ferry over the two-week span in question could be in the hundreds.
