A landing gear issue on a small plane led to an emergency landing at St. John’s International Airport Wednesday night.
Airport firefighters as well as St. John’s Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) firefighters were on scene when the plane apparently touched down and stopped in the grass near one of the airport runways said a spokesman for SJRFD.
Reports indicated the aircraft was unable to lower its landing gear and was going to attempt a belly landing.
The two people aboard the aircraft walked away from the plane safely.
More details will be provided as they become available.
