Snowbank foils St. John’s driver trying to flee police

St. John’s, N.L. — The RNC didn’t have far to go after a man who was trying to avoid a traffic stop fled police. 

Around 2:30 this morning, police attempted to pull a vehicle over in in the area of Elizabeth Ave. in St. John’s.

The driver wouldn’t stop and briefly fled before losing control and getting stuck in a snow bank a short distance away.

The 20-year-old was charged with flight from police, resisting arrest and breach of a court order. In addition the driver was issued summary offence tickets for no insurance, no driver’s licence and expired vehicle registration.

The driver was held for court and the vehicle was impounded.
