A collision with a light pole left a Pontiac Trans-Am without one of its front wheels Sunday evening.

The incident happened in the northbound lanes of Portugal Cove Road at Major’s Path just before 7 p.m. when a male driver apparently lost control of the car and left the metal light pole with a large bend in it just above ground level. The car came to a stop about fifty meters from where the initial crash happened. The front tire was found sitting between the car and the pole.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers could be seen questioning a male near the damaged vehicle but there did not appear to be any injuries.

This is the second time in four days that a sports car has been involved in a collision in St. John’s and lost one of its wheels.
