ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating an incident this week in which someone threw a rock at a passing ambulance and is looking for public tips to find the culprit.
It happened Monday on Columbus Drive, St. John's.
Between 3:30-3:45 p.m., a Eastern Health ambulance was driving south on Columbus Drive near Old Penneywell Road. The ambulance was on the way to a high priority call for service, and was operating with all emergency equipment activated, when a suspect threw a rock at the ambulance, striking it on a side panel, police say.
The suspect is being described as a heavy-set age 20 25, with short hair and is said to have been wearing a red/orange and grey hoodie. The man was on a pedal bike, and on the median at the time of the offence, according to police.
The RNC is requesting that anyone with any information, or with dash camera footage of the offence, please contact the RNC or Crime Stoppers.
