A 32-year-old man is set to appear in court in St. John’s Saturday morning on charges of assault, assault with a weapon, mischief to property and uttering threats.

According to a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary report, officers responded to a report of an assault in the west end of St. John’s around 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Police allege the weapon used in the assault of a woman was a shovel, and that the woman sustained minor injuries.
