Much of the province was shovelling out on Wednesday, and preparing for more snow to fall again before Thursday morning.

The Telegram went downtown to ask the few pedestrians who were outside what they think about snow-clearing efforts in the city so far this winter. Here’s what they had to say.

Question: What do you think of the snow-clearing effort in the city so far this winter?

I think it’s pretty good this year — better than most, to be honest with you. I think the city is doing a pretty good job this year keeping things a little neater and they’re cleaning it up quicker this year, it seems.”

-Greg Rowsell

“It’s a little narrow on the streets, like the outside lanes — the lanes get really thin because the snow banks are so high, but I don’t know, maybe it’s the best they can do.”

-Jason Abbott

“So far, so good. We just went down one of those really steep roads and it wasn’t too bad — mom had to put it in four-wheel drive, but we took it pretty slow and we didn’t slide down. This sidewalk we’re standing on is clear, but that one’s not,” Duplantie pointed across the street. “But I think it’s pretty good for the amount of snow we’ve got in the last two days.”

-Chantel Duplantie

“Have a look,”

Rose gestured to the sidewalk. “The plough went up the sidewalk probably once, and everybody got to shovel out the rest of the snow. The snow is still going back there (on the sidewalk) because the plough came down and shoved the snow back down on the sidewalk, so it’s not reasonable, is it? I’m not impressed. If they’ve got a snow ban downtown from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m., maybe they should put the crew down and clean it up before everybody goes to work.”

-Stephen Rose

“Overall, I think it’s pretty good, myself. They’re on time all the time, moving along. (There’s) nothing they can do with all the snow we’ve got — it takes time.”

-Pat Parrell
