The St. John’s Downtown Santa Claus Parade has been given the go-ahead for today, starting at noon.
It’s going to be cold and sunny, with some chilly breezes, so be sure to dress warmly. Today’s highs are expected to reach -1 C.
Children can bring their letters to Santa, who’ll have people collecting them along the parade route.
Volunteers from Newfoundland Power will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Community Food Sharing Association 15 minutes before the parade begins, so be sure to bring something to help those in need.
This year’s parade is being dedicated to Nevaeh Denine, the little girl who died from cancer complications earlier this year. Neveah’s Lemonade Stand and other fundraising initiatives as well as her advocacy have inspired many.
Parents are reminded to ensure that their children remain safely on the sidewalk while viewing the floats.
You’re encouraged to park and take the free Metrobus Santa Shuttle downtown.
Look for photos of the parade later today on The Telegram's website.
