A 28-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man are facing charges stemming from a pair of shoplifting incidents that occurred in St. John’s on Monday.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to an east end grocery store around 6:45 p.m. Monday night on a report of a theft.
The man and woman were both charged with theft under $5,000 for the incident and breaches of court orders.
During the investigation, it was discovered the woman had also completed a theft at another east end grocery store earlier Monday evening, thus a second charge of theft under $5,000 was added to her growing list of violations and additional charges of breaches of court orders.
The woman was arrested and taken to lock up overnight and will appear in a St. John’s court Tuesday morning.
The 32-year-old man was charged and released to appear in court at a later date.
The RNC responded to 170 calls for service during its 24-hour reporting period.
