Late last night RCMP issued a notice for drivers urging caution on the Trans-Canada Highway near South Branch after warm winter rains washed away a large section of the road.
Last night’s heavy deluge, estimated at between 25 to 35 mm throughout various parts of the region, has resulted in elevated water levels. The sound of run-off water rushing beneath the highway is still audible.
The east-bound lane remains closed to traffic near the sinkhole and the TCH is down to one lane until repairs are completed.
Department of Transportation crews are currently on scene.
