A 32-year-old Mount Pearl man has a future court appearance to answer to charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, in relation to a stolen work van.
The RCMP Glovertown said the theft happened on a property located off the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) between Glovertown and Gambo Friday afternoon. That’s when the van’s owner returned home to find someone attempting to steal the vehicle. When confronted, the suspect then took off on foot heading towards the TCH.
The van was undamaged.
The police were contacted, and shortly afterward, located the suspected thief on the TCH and arrested him.
The RCMP says its investigation revealed he was also breaching two court orders. As well, he is facing additional charges for breaching probation and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.
He was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
