A moose appears to have been a factor in a two-vehicle collision on Portugal Cove Road Saturday night that saw one of the vehicles overturn and come to rest back on its wheels.

The collision happened at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road and Airport Heights Road next to Windsor Lake just before 11 p.m. when, according to an official on scene, a moose ran across the road causing the driver of an SUV to brake suddenly. That vehicle was then apparently rear-ended by a second SUV, causing the first one to overturn.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged in the incident but there were only minor injuries.
