Squalls led to a number of accidents in the area; same condition, same situation at other end of Trans Canada Highway on the island

Holyrood RCMP are advising motorists eastbound and westbound lanes of the Trans Canada Highway between the Witless Bay Line and Butter Pot Park have reopened after being closed for more than an hour early this afternoon to allow for a reopens to a number of vehicular accidents along that stretch.

However, the RCMP warns visibility remains poor as blustery conditions persist.

It was the same situation on the far end of the island. The RCMP said there had been multiple accidents reported on the TCH near Port aux Basques amid white-out conditions with zero visibility.
