BONAVISTA, N.L. — Three people from Catalina on the Bonavista Peninsula were arrested over the weekend for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
Bonavista RCMP, with the assistance of the RCMP federal serious and organized crime unit and Clarenville RCMP, recently completed multiple drug investigations in the community resulting in the arrests.
On Saturday, police seized a quantity of cocaine, illicit cannabis and other items indicative of drug trafficking from a residence in Catalina after obtaining a search warrant.
Two people were arrested and face charges as a result of the warrant in that investigation — a 47-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man.
The woman was charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possessing cannabis with the intent to distribute.
The man faces charges of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possessing cannabis with the intent to distribute.
In a separate investigation, police located and arrested a 38-year-old man for trafficking cocaine.
All three have been released and are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Bonavista on Sept. 22.
RCMP investigators in this province anticipate further arrests related to drug trafficking in the area in the coming days.
