Three individuals charged with impaired driving following three separate collisions in Conception Bay North region

RCMP says Old Perlican residence significantly damaged

Drinking and driving continues to be the leading cause of criminal death in Canada and one of the biggest challenges police have is finding impaired drivers while they are on the roads. Especially in rural areas, it can be hard for police to patrol due to the size of the area and the number of officers available. This is why both RCMP and Cape Breton Regional Police officers are urging people to report any suspected impaired drivers, for the safety of the driver and others.

BAY ROBERTS, N.L. — Two men and a woman are facing impaired driving and other charges following three separate motor-vehicle collisions in the Conception Bay North area over the weekend.

Harbour Grace RCMP were called out to Old Perlican where a vehicle had reportedly collided with a garage. On the scene, police learned that the driver, a 46-year-old Old Perlican woman, had allegedly assaulted someone at the residence, was removed by another person at the home, and then drove her SUV into the garage. Police located her a short time later, at which time she was arrested and provided breath samples allegedly more than twice the legal limit.

The accused was released and will appear in court to answer assault and mischief charges in addition to the impaired driving.

The day before, police attended the scene of a two-vehicle collision where one of the drivers had fled before their arrival. The 38-year-old Shearstown man was located and charged with drug-impaired driving. Police are waiting on the results of a drug influence evaluation.

On Saturday night, a drive-thru lineup hit-and-run was reported to Bay Roberts RCMP. Moments later, the vehicle involved was reported off the roadway and stuck in a snowbank. Responding officers arrested the driver, a 32-year-old Marystown man, for suspected drug-impaired driving and awaiting the results of a blood test.
