Traffic along Thorburn Road in St. John’s was slowed to a crawl this morning following a two-car motor vehicle collision at the Austin Street intersection.

One the vehicles, a new model Hyundai sedan, struck a light pole while the other suffered extensive damage to the front end.

Paramedics on scene said both drivers were taken to the Health Sciences Centre for observation. Their injuries did not appear serious.

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department had to use an extrication tool to open the bonnet of one vehicle so they could cut power.
