Two men avoid serious injury on Veterans Memorial Highway following vehicle’s head-on collision with moose

BAY ROBERTS, N.L. — Two Bay Roberts men were fortunate to avoid serious injury after their vehicle collided head-on with a moose on Veterans’ Memorial Highway.

The accident happened at around 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, according to a Bay Roberts RCMP news release. Police, Bay de Grave Fire Department and Broughton's Ambulance responded to the collision, which occurred near the North River exit on Route 75. The two men were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The RCMP urges motorists to be diligent in watching for moose, particularly at dawn and dusk.
