CORNER BROOK, N.L. — A 36-year-old Corner Brook man is facing eight charges after he allegedly committed two crimes over two nights.

The man was first arrested on Monday as the result of an investigation into an early morning break and enter in the city.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a call at a business in the downtown area of the city at 5:40 a.m. on Monday.

During the investigation the man was arrested, and stolen items from the break and enter were recovered by police.

The investigation continued throughout the day and the man was charged with break, enter and theft, breach of probation, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

He was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date, but it wasn’t long before he was back in custody after police were called to a report of an armed robbery at an ATM banking kiosk in the Caribou Road area early Tuesday morning.

The RNC responded to the area at 12:04 a.m. It was alleged the man had approached a woman while she was at the kiosk, produced a weapon and demanded money.

The woman was not injured during the incident and the man fled.

Police contained the area and the man was located within a short period of time and arrested, and charged with armed robbery, breach of probation and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was later charged with a third count of breach of probation and failure to comply with an undertaking.

He appeared in court Tuesday afternoon and has been remanded until Thursday.
