MOUNT PEARL, N.L. — A man and a woman are appearing before a provincial court judge today after being apprehended by Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers while parked in a stolen vehicle Tuesday.

Patrol officers spotted what was believed to be a stolen car in the area of Mount Pearl Square near 4 p.m. The occupants were detained and police confirmed it was in fact a stolen vehicle with a stolen license plate. Inside the vehicle, officers observed numerous credit cards and other stolen plates.

The man and woman inside were also identified to be allegedly responsible for a theft from a Kenmount Road pet store on Sept. 28.

Both the man, 28, and the woman, 19, have been charged with theft and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

The RNC's general investigation unit asks that anyone with information on this matter contact police at (709) 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can now provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at nlcrimestoppers.com.
