Two people were displaced from their home late Wednesday night following a fire in their kitchen.
St. John’s Regional firefighters received the call just before 11 p.m. and, on arrival, found some smoke coming from a basement apartment on Canada Drive.
They laid an attack line and made quick work of the blaze but not before the kitchen had been damaged by fire and smoke.
The male and female resident were not injured during the incident and the Red Cross was called in to see to their needs overnight.
The upstairs unit was not affected.
