Three St. John’s fire stations responded to a downtown fire on Young Street Saturday evening about 6:15.

The blaze occured in a three-storey house which had three apartments, 43, 45 and 45A. The fire was contained to the main level of the building

Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross arranged emergency lodging, food, and clothing purchases for a woman from the apartment where the fire occurred, and emergency lodging for one night for two men and a woman from the upstairs unit, which received only slight smoke damage.

A man who lived in the basement apartment, which received minor water damage, indicated he did not require any emergency aid.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
