UPDATE: RNC arrest suspect in Conception Bay South assault

Two people taken to hospital

A 41-year-old man will appear before a provincial court judge this morning to answer to charges in connection with an incident in Conception Bay South yesterday evening.

Police were called to the Watton Place in C.B.S. around the dinner hour on Tuesday and found that two people had been injured and the suspect had fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Both injured parties were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Police located and arrested the suspect later and held him for a court appearance where he will face two charges each of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, a charge of motor vehicle theft and breaches of court orders.

There is a large police presence on Watton Place in Conception Bay South, including a K-9 team.

It hasn’t been confirmed, but reports from the scene indicate there may have been a stabbing and that a male resident of the area, who was covered in blood, was taken from the scene by ambulance. Reports also indicate the perpetrator may have fled the scene in a vehicle.

A K-9 officer and a police service dog were spotted searching the grounds and trees of two properties next to each other.

A house at 17 Watton Pl. has been cordoned off with police tape, and a police vehicle is parked in the driveway of the neighbouring property.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
