A business in Deer Lake that was only recently taken over by a new owner has been destroyed by fire.
The call of the blaze at Nicole’s Hidden Treasures came in at around 9 p.m. Sunday night.
The owner of the business could not be reached for comment Monday, but a Facebook post indicated it had changed ownership in October and was being modified from an antique store to selling more modern items as well as continuing to sell antiques.
According to the RCMP, the business was undergoing renovations and was unoccupied at the time of the fire and is expected to be a total loss.
An investigator from the Fire Commissioner’s office attended the scene, with the assistance of an RCMP fire investigator, but no cause of the fire had been determined as of deadline Monday.
The investigation is continuing.
