The Bay St. George Royal Canadian Mounted Police received a report of the missing Codroy Valley man at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 49-year-old separated from his hunting party on Tuesday afternoon and hasn’t been heard from since. He is believed to be in the area of Little Mica Pond, on Camp 180 Road, which is south of Jeffrey’s. He is described by police as being an experienced guide.

The Barachois Brook Search and Rescue Team has been deployed to the area. The RCMP had sought the assistance of an air search via helicopter, however, weather in the area has prevented that from happening.

A local group of hunters and guides joined rescue efforts by Barachois Ground Search and Rescue along with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre helicopter which was deployed to assist in the search.

The helicopter search continued until midnight and will be redeployed this morning, weather permitting.

Friends and family of the Codroy Valley man have expressed prayers through Facebook of finding Hilliard safe.
