A major fire in Paradise destroyed a strip mall and all of the business in it Saturday afternoon.
The fire was reported by employees of the Subway restaurant who noticed smoke in the building.
When firefighters arrived on scene, there was smoke coming from the eaves of the building but the blaze quickly escalated as high winds fanned the flames.
Topsail Road was closed as firefighters battled to fire which erupted from the roof minutes after they arrived on scene.
There were no injuries.

A major fire is underway at this hour in Paradise. Engulfed in flames in a row of businesses at Neil’s Pond Plaza on Topsail Road.
Subway, the Outport Restaurant, a tanning salon and a flower shop are on fire.
No injuries have been reported and fire crews are battling the blaze while police are dealing with heavy traffic in the area.
