The province’s seasonal visitor information centres in Port aux Basques, Notre Dame, Clarenville, Whitbourne and Argentia are officially open.

According to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, the centres engage over 200,000 visitors every year.

Travel counsellors with Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism are nationally certified by the Tourism Human Resources Canada emerit program.

Information and advice on local festivals and events, attractions and experiences and direction to hidden gems are available at the sites.

A record 553,000 travellers visited Newfoundland and Labrador last year.

There are also two provincial visitor information centres – located at the airports in Deer Lake and St. John’s – that are open year round.
