It looks like the metro and St. John’s area will escape the worst of the weather warnings coming in to play in other areas of the province for Thursday.
It’s 2C at 5:30 a.m. in St. John’s and temperatures are expected to rise to 8C or 9C, dropping to reach freezing about shortly before midnight.
Environment Canada predicts rain and fog patches early in the day. Rainfall amount 10 mm. Winds will be south 30 km/h gusting to 50 increasing to 50 gusting to 80 this morning.
Tonight, rain will change changing to a few flurries that will end overnight, then cloudy. Fog patches will dissipate this evening.
Winds are expected to be southwest 40 km/h gusting to 60 becoming northwest 30 gusting to 50 this evening. The expected low is -6C.
Friday is expected to be mainly cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries. Winds will be northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming west 20 near noon. High -4C.
