According to a police report, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) officers responded to a call of an assault with a weapon in the downtown St. John’s area shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday.
A 54-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the investigation. She was held for court.
Police say the victim of the assault is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.
The RNC’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating.
