One woman was taken to hospital following a crash between two pickups in Mount Pearl Monday night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Old Placentia Road and Emerald Drive. The female driver had to removed from her pickup using extrication tools to cut open her door before she was placed on a stretcher.

The male driver of the other truck was not injured but a dog riding in that vehicle was hurt. The dog was seen covered in blankets and being comforted by bystanders before the owner eventually took the pet to be examined by a veterinarian.

Both trucks sustained extensive damage.

The woman’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The RNC is investigating.
