ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A female pedestrian was struck by a car in downtown St. John’s Tuesday night, making her the second pedestrian struck by a vehicle Tuesday.
It also makes her at least the eighth person hit by a vehicle since Saturday night in the metro area. Two of them were seriously injured.
It appears the woman was crossing the street in front of the Delta Hotel when she was struck by a westbound SUV driven by a woman. The female victim was checked on scene by Eastern Health paramedics and released but, while she was not taken to hospital, the woman was visibly limping as she left the ambulance.
The driver of the SUV appeared shaken by the incident.
Another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle earlier in the day in the city center but that incident was not believed to be serious.
The RNC is investigating the incident.
