The long-awaited move of the new Main Street bridge in downtown Corner Brook was carried out Friday.
The slow, delicate process, which involved jacks sliding the new four-lane structure along rails to its permanent position over the Corner Brook Stream, was expected to take between eight to 10 hours to complete.
It will be several more weeks before the remaining work is completed and the bridge is opened to traffic.
