Dining and dashing didn’t end so well for a St. John’s man on Thursday.
The 41-year-old left a downtown restaurant without paying after finishing his meal around 10 p.m. on Thursday.
The restaurant staff followed the man while at the same time alerting the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to the offence. The man was located a short time after and was arrested and charged with fraudulently obtaining food and breaching a court order.
He was released and will appear in a court at a later date.
A man sustained minor injuries after he was robbed by several men outside an East End St. John’s bank around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night.
The suspects fled on foot and are still being sought by the RNC who will continue to investigate this crime.
In a separate incident around 9:30 p.m., the RNC arrested a 42-year-old St. John’s man stemming from an assault in a downtown residence.
The man was arrested and charged for assault and resisting arrest. The adult male victim did not require medical treatment.
He was taken to lockup overnight and will appear in St. John’s court this morning.
A 34-year-old man was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic safety stop on the C.B.S. Highway near Kelligrews at 1 a.m. early Friday morning.
He was given the breathalyzer and was found to be over the legal limit leading to a charge of impaired driving, a driver’s license suspension and his vehicle was impounded.
He was released after he was charged and will appear in court at a later date.
