ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A flurry of calls about a man assaulting staff at several restaurants downtown Friday has resulted in the arrest and court appearance of one man.

A 29-year-old man was to face charges in court on multiple counts of assault and mischief.

On Friday afternoon around 4 o’clock the RNC began receiving calls about a man causing disturbance and assaulting bar staff at restaurants in the downtown area of St. John’s. As police responded to one call, more reports came in that the man had gone to two other restaurants and had committed the same offences.

The suspect fled, but not before being identified by police. On Saturday at 11:30 a.m. the man turned himself in to the police.

He was charged with multiple counts of causing a disturbance, common assault, uttering threats and one count of mischief to property and assault with a weapon. Some of the victims received minor injuries.
