Wicked weather coming across the Gulf of St. Lawrence and arriving in Newfoundland this morning is causing some delays and cancellations.

Marine Atlantic has delayed all its departures from North Sydney, N.S. and Port aux Basques, N.L. until 11:45 p.m. tonight. That said, they’re also advising travelers that tonight’s crossing could also be impacted by weather.

There are also some impacts to the provincial ferry system, with four vessels stormbound, including the MV Sound of Islay (Ramea-Grey River-Burgeo), MV Terra Nova (Gaultois-McCallum-Hermitage), MV Northern Seal (Rencontre East - Bay L'Argent - Pool's Cove), and MV Challenge One (La Poile-Rose Blanche).

As of 10 a.m., there are minimal impacts on flights arriving and departing St. John’s International Airport.

The high winds have also caused the City of St. John’s to reschedule automated garbage pickup in areas 2A and 2B from today until tomorrow.
