Motorists facing impaired driving charges in Labrador

HOPEDALE/HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY/NAIN, N.L.

The RCMP in Labrador laid impaired driving charges against three individuals in roughly 24 hours this week.

According to a RCMP release, a 61-year-old man from Hopedale was arrested and charged with impaired driving after police received a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Berry Road on at around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 12.

In Happy Valley-Goose Bay, the RCMP were at the scene of a disturbance around midnight on Oct. 13 when a woman from Nain returned to the residence in a vehicle. The 38-year-old was found to be impaired.

She was arrested and provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.

Meanwhile, Nain RCMP dealt with two impaired drivers as well on Oct. 13.

At around 9 p.m., police stopped a 64-year-old man from Nain who provided breath samples just below the threshold for a criminal charge. His licence was suspended for seven days as a result.

couple hours later, a 32-year-old Nain man with was arrested and charged with impaired driving.

The three drivers who were charged with impaired driving also had their driver’s licences suspended and have court appearances scheduled for a later date.
