The Memorial University Sea-Hawks cheerleading team are world champions after winning the title at the International Cheer Union University World Cup Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida Sunday.

The squad was competing against teams from Canada, the United States and Mexico in the Premier All-Girl division but also ended up having the highest score of any Canadian team in the six different divisions. Coach Angela Picco said the girls have been practicing since the summer months and are ecstatic about their win.

 

 

 

The team is made up of twenty-three girls.

 

The competition took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex at Walt Disney World.
