As the Muskrat Falls inquiry moves into Phase 2, the commission has issued a call to interview project workers who believe they have insight and information about the cost overruns.
“We’d like to interview people who worked on the Muskrat Falls Generating Station, the Labrador-Island Link, or the Labrador Transmission Assets”, Commission Co-Counsel Barry Learmonth stated in a press release. “If you have insight into why this cost so much more than expected, we’d like to hear it.”
While Phase 1 explored why the project was sanctioned in 2012, Phase 2 deals exclusively with why the project has experienced cost overruns.
The first two weeks, starting Feb. 18, will be in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, after which hearings will continue in St. John’s.
“We are reviewing millions of primary documents, commissioning expert reports, and interviewing most senior managers and political leaders,” stated Commission Co-Counsel Kate O’Brien, “but people who worked on site may have a different perspective again.”
