PORT AUX BASQUES, N.L.

Employees with Newfoundland Power are working to repair an issue that has caused an unscheduled power outage on the province's southwest coast this afternoon, Oct. 18.

According to information posted on the company's website, all communities in the Codroy Valley area and Port aux Basques to Rose Blanche are affected.

The cause of the problem has been identified as a loss of power supply from NL Hydro.

The interruption started at 1:27 p.m. and at present there is no estimation for when power will be restored.
