Pennecon Realty is planning to refurbish shuttered Macpherson Academy on Newtown Road in St. John’s into a health hub.

The school was one of three recently bought up by Pennecon from the Newfoundland and Labrador English District School Board.

Pennecon is offering up space in the former elementary school to lease or purchase.

Sessions are being held this month for physicians, chiropractors, physiotherapists, dietitians, nurse practitioners, massage therapists, acupuncturists, dentists and other health professionals.

The structure is about 70 years old.

Pennecon Ltd.’s real estate arm is the top bidder on all three abandoned St. John’s schools — including the former Booth Memorial and Bishop’s College in centre city — for a combined $3 million-plus.

Macpherson was purchased for $895,695; Booth Memorial, $1,229,901 and  Bishop’s College — $1,227,501.

Information sessions for private health care providers are being held tonight (Wednesday) and June 26 at 1309 Topsail Road.
