Police catch impaired drivers in Bay Roberts and Carbonear

BAY ROBERTS AND CARBONEAR, N.L.

Two more impaired drivers were removed from the province’s roads in Bay Roberts and Carbonear on Saturday, Jan. 5.

According to an RCMP release, around 3:30 a.m., officers patrolling Bay Roberts came upon a truck in a ditch with its engine still running.

The 31-year-old driver, a man from Fortune, was found to be impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit.

Around 9:30 p.m. that night, police conducting a traffic stop in Carbonear discovered a 53-year-old man from Victoria was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and provided breath samples above the legal limit.

Both men received driver’s licence suspensions, and had their vehicles towed and impounded.

They were released from custody with court dates set for next month.
