Bay St. George RCMP kept busy with calls

Police on the Burin Peninsula are investigating an incident that happened Monday near Fortune, where a 62-year-old man died as a result of a single-vehicle ATV collision.

STEPHENVILLE, N.L.

Animal cruelty, assaults, break and enters, careless use of a firearm, criminal harassment, disturbing the peace, illegal fireworks, drug trafficking, loud music, erratic driving, and the list goes on and on and on.

These are just a sampling of the 107 calls for service the Bay St. George Royal Canadian Mounted Police has responded to in the last week.

In a release issued Tuesday, June 30, the detachment also said it responded to calls related to impaired driving, domestic violence, sexual assaults, suspicious persons, theft, traffic accidents and vehicle fires, flight from police, a lightning strike, mental health crises, off-road vehicle infractions, property damage, and residential and commercial alarms.

Police are also receiving high call volumes with respect to vehicle registration, insurance, and driver's licence renewals. They are reminding people the motor registration division and/or their insurance company administer these services.
